Editor’s Note

Welcome to our first issue of The Review, Bermudez Projects’ new online magazine!

Since presenting our first exhibit back in 2003, our commitment to providing you greater access to visual art and culture has continued through our multi-platform programming. Our exhibits, publications, events, video/sound projects, social media and, now, magazine, aim to increase the appreciation and understanding of art here in Los Angeles.

The Review will differ from other art journals by offering arts-related news and special features by a team of award-winning journalists, while also providing in-depth knowledge of Bermudez Projects’ own art and artists.

In 001 | The First Issue, veteran writer Marc Haefele takes us within the “meta-modern confectionary box” that is the new Petersen Automotive Museum, while also delivering an insightful examination of art newcomer Sean Patrick Sullivan on the eve of his debut solo show. Photographer and writer Lloyd Galbraith gets to the heart of Camilla Taylor’s deeply psychological prints and sculptures. And, lastly, we list the 5 Must-See Shows in LA.

This is merely the beginning for The Review. In the months ahead, we will provide many more articles and features that are meant to inspire and get you to explore the art of Los Angeles.

We are here to get you to do whatever it takes to go out and experience the involving, life-changing, stimulating art that is out there; and to be a resource and an inspiration for our visitors, collectors, friends and readers.

So, please share these stories with others using the social media links at the end of each article, and let us know if you come across a great artist or exhibit we have not told you about. And, please, tell us what you think as we plan for our next issue.

Excelsior!

Julian Bermudez
